An inside look into security gate technology

An inside look into security gate technology

Many Raleigh business owners are worried about protecting their commercial property. As a result, they will reach out and add a commercial fence to their property so there is less worry at the end of the day.

When we are helping business owners make the decision of which technology is best for them, there are a few ways we suggest they look at it: how it works for administrators and how it works for end users.

3 key types of security options for commercial fences are:

  1. Basic Readers: Basic technology readers are controlled specifically from the unit. They are typically simpler when it comes to security.
  2. Semi Intelligent Readers: Can control multiple locks and key points but still strives on the main panel.
  3. Intelligent (Smart) Readers: These integrate with a central security system for a company. Many of the accesses are cloud based.

How Security Gate Technologies Work for Administrators:

Administrators are the key individuals in the company that can control the fence and the technology. They can add new users, remove users, etc.

  • Basic Readers: Basic readers create a lot of work for the administrators. Adjustments must be done at the unit and the data is stored in the central unit which makes data management a little tougher.
  • Semi Intelligent Readers:This is a step up on technology and gives more controls to the administrators but many of these units still require changes to occur at the main unit.
  • Intelligent (Smart) Readers:This gives administrators the most ease of use but can lead to potential data breach; however, this is very rare. Many of these systems can integrate with an existing security system.

How Security Gate Technologies Work for End Users:

End users are the employees and vendors that work in the company and will need to access the property.

  • Basic Readers: Accepts a pin or password; very easy for the end user.
  • Semi Intelligent Readers:Many new technologies are introduced at this level including biometrics such as fingerprint scanners. This can be a little tougher for users.
  • Intelligent (Smart) Readers:These are typically proximity readers which means there is a badge or specific item that when it is near the gate access point, it will open. These solutions typically take the risk of struggling to get in away.

It is important to make sure to balance the ease of use for both end users and administrators.
